How Did you get the idea?
We started to offer painting workshops to drive traffic into the gallery.  The workshops gained popularity and it all transpired from there.
When did you start this business – How was your first year?
I started this business in the Summer of 2013 and held my first event in October. It was a great year, we found the perfect location.

If you look back, did you imagine it would be like this?
No, it wasn’t like I imagined, I was just trying things out and they continued to work into what was meant to be.  I love the idea of mixing painting with food and then pairing with wine, and this makes for a great business!!  The initial idea has expanded and will continue to expand.
What do you like most about this business?

The thing I love most about this business is the impact it has on people, especially when groups of people come in and they have no idea what they’re getting into. I love seeing the initial resistance and then the transformation as they find their creative side.

What makes you unique?
My studio provides a private experience for people to come and feel comfortable to express themselves. I make sure to let everyone know at every event that there are no judges in my studio. We are here to have fun!

What is your biggest challenge?
Sometimes it can be a challenge to convince people that they have a creative side. That they can make beautiful artwork.
Did you grow up in Kelowna? How do you find living here?
I did grow up here, I moved away for a short while and when I came back I appreciated it even more.
What advice would you give someone starting a business?
I would suggest you be really clear on your niche and who your target market is. Also really know what your offering and what value it delivers. Reflect on your business, make changes and decision based on your results.
What are you looking for in an Accountant?
I want an Accountant that understands my business and my goals. Someone who will help me to maximize business and personal income and benefits.  I would like my Accountant to provide a consultative approach.
